Your First Visit

Upon arrival at our office, you’ll be warmly greeted by one of our staff members, who will provide you with some new patient paperwork to fill out if you haven’t already downloaded it from our website.

You’ll then be escorted to a private room where you’ll be introduced to your chiropractor and our noninvasive evaluation process, which includes:

  • An in-depth consultation
  • A thorough examination that includes chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological testing
  • X-rays, if necessary (X-ray studies can be completed on-site)
  • Advanced imaging, if necessary (we will refer you to a convenient facility for any MRIs or CAT scans that may be required)

If you’re suffering with substantial pain on this first visit, appropriate therapy and/or adjustment may be advised to diminish inflammation and reduce irritation of nerves. Home care recommendations may also be made, including the application of heat or ice, over-the-counter medication or supplement therapy. Please plan on this first visit being approximately 60 minutes in length.

Your Second Visit

During this visit, the doctor will provide you with a report of findings. This report is an explanation of the results of your combined examination testing. We’ll also recommend a customized care plan to get you out of pain and on the road to wellness as quickly as possible. We’ll estimate the length of time required to complete your program, as well as your initial frequency of visits. We’ll make sure that you know exactly what we can offer in the way of help, support and education.

Specific treatment usually begins on this second visit, and we again ask that you budget 60 minutes of time for this appointment.

Subsequent Visits

The amount of time that you need to allot for subsequent visits can fluctuate greatly and can also vary from visit to visit. If you’re only receiving an adjustment on a particular day, you may be here for 10-15 minutes. If you’re receiving other therapies, such as massage, then you may need to schedule up to an hour.

To be mindful of wasted time in the busy lifestyles of our practice members, we’re happy that we can provide a one-stop center of healing, which promotes maximal relaxation and decreased stress. Again, your comfort is always our primary concern!

How Much Care Do I Need?

People develop relationships with various types of doctors over a lifetime. Unfortunately, most people never acquire extensive chiropractic knowledge until they’re in pain, or have exhausted other avenues of help.

We learn when we’re young that it’s a smart idea to see our dentist twice a year to have our teeth cleaned. We learn to visit our medical doctor for an annual physical. But we aren’t often advised about how and why to use a chiropractor, an acupuncturist or a podiatrist, until we’re at the end of our rope!

Routine visits to a chiropractor (often referred to as maintenance care) allow the restoration and optimization of function to the joints of the spine and extremities before the body becomes symptomatic and our daily routines are disrupted. This aligns beautifully with the desire to be healthy — just like getting our teeth cleaned twice a year and showing up for our annual physicals.
